Cryophase™ Technology on Rail Cars

One of the biggest challanges in the railraod industry is maintaining the aluminum in frame rail cars. These maintenance jobs often require upgrading fasteners, like rivets, to ensure the rail car can safely carry heavy loads across the country. 

Most of the time removing and replacing rivets in aluminum frames is tough on maintenance workers cutting tools. They tend to use standard reamers that end up needing resharpening after only a week of service. Cryocut® Reamers are the perfect tool for the railroad indsutry. Replacing Train Brakes with EZ Glide™

Many train cars built prior to 2005 place a specially designed smoke/stick bomb adjacent to critical bearing and braking components. The odor and smoke activates when critical temperatures are reached and maintenance is needed.

To repair this, mechanics must make long, deep cuts in cast steel to remove and replace the expelled stick bombs from the housing. Using a right angle grinder and a traditional cut off wheel is challenging and doesn't quite do the job.
