Product Description

The Elite™ - Combination Brazing and Buildup Alloy
The Elite is a flux-coated brazing alloy with high tensile strength and exceptional ductility for joining all types of metals.

  • High-strength joints — for dependable repairs
  • High capillarity — thin flowing action allows complete joint fills
  • Low temperature — easy to use for most maintenance applications
  • Narrow plastic range — allows control of the heat input to build up, shape or flow into joints
  • Versatile — joins steel, copper, brass, bronzes, cast iron, tungsten carbide, refractory metals and nickel alloys
  • Cadmium free and low fume coating

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Tensile strength: up to 95,000 psi/655 MPa
  • Machinability: Excellent
  • Plastic range: approximately 30°F/17°C
  • Working temp: approximately 1690°F/921°C
  • Electrical conductivity: 8% IACS
  • Flux Coating: Blue

PROCEDURES
For Brazing:
Even though The Elite will bond well through light rust, oil, dirt, etc., it is recommended to clean the weld area. Parts to be joined should have a joint clearance of 0.003 inch for optimum results. Using a neutral flame, heat the base metal to a dull red. Melt off a small amount of the rod and flux allowing thin deposits to flow through the joint. Add additional filler metal as needed. Let the completed joint cool at room temperature.

For Buildup and Overlaying:
The Elite can be applied on any moderately clean surface. Whenever possible, clean the weld area by removing surface dirt and fatigued metal. Preheat only the starting weld area to a dull red. Apply filler metal, placing the tip of the rod and the tip of the flame cone (neutral flame) in contact with the base metal. Melt off a
small amount of rod, and play out on the base metal in a tinning fashion. Keep the torch angle at 70° to the base metal. To apply a pass-on-pass buildup, return to the start of the first bead. With the torch angle lowered to 20°, apply successive layers of filler metal until the desired height is obtained.
