Alu-Flow™
Flux Cored Aluminum Brazing Alloy
Alu-Flow is a flux cored aluminum brazing rod designed for repairing aluminum
and aluminum alloys used in heat exchangers, such as radiators and cooling coils used in HVAC and refrigeration units. Alu-Flow can be used to repair cracks and pinholes in existing braze joints as well as making new repairs. The alloy has excellent flow characteristics on clean aluminum and flows like silver brazing alloys. The flux is non-corrosive and can be removed with warm water and detergent. The flux core is non-hydroscopic and does not require heated storage.

PROCEDURES
Make sure that the surface to be brazed is clean and free of all contaminants by power wire brushing, sanding or chemical cleaning. Aluminum alloys may form a tough oxide film that is difficult to remove. A power stainless steel wire brush is recommended for removal. Preheat thick sections. Use a slightly carborizing flame (for oxyacetylene torches, leave a small excess acetylene blue feather.) Controlling the heat is important using the torch the angle and length of heating time (work quickly as the flux decomposes rapidly when melted.) Apply a small amount of rod to the joint and melt in. The alloy will flow with capillary action into the joint when the right temperature is achieved. Do not overheat. Allow to slow cool. Flux residue is non-corrosive but can be removed with hot water and detergent or vinegar.
